In the C-Suite: Brandon Chasen plans to keep on buying, developing in the city
Brandon Chasen sees the massive apartment buildings rising across Baltimore, making headlines for their premier amenities and sky-high rent, but the local developer isn't interested in building on that scale.
He's focused on his company's bread and butter — smaller, luxury boutique multi-family buildings with moderate rents, commercial spaces and outsourced amenities.
Chasen brings Hello Alfred’s concierge service to Baltimore tenants
In February, Baltimore-based Chasen Construction and Development will begin offering tenants access to concierge services through hospitality startup Hello Alfred.
The move means New York-based Hello Alfred is entering the Baltimore market.
Chasen, which was founded in 2015, operates 14 buildings in Baltimore, with a total of 250 units. The company renovates properties into “boutique luxury” residential properties of about 10 to 35 units in areas like Federal Hill, Mount Vernon and Fells Point, said CEO Brandon Chasen.

FORMER PRIME STEAKHOUSE IN FELLS POINT CONVERTING TO APARTMENTS
A Fells Point building that once housed a celebrity chef's steakhouse is being converted into 10 luxury apartments. Chasen Construction & Development is also creating about 2,000 square feet of retail at street level at the former Prime Steakhouse at 1719 Eastern Ave. Brandon Chasen Sr. Chasen purchased the 6,700-square-foot property in June for $450,000.
The General Joseph Haller Post 95 building in Baltimore's Fells Point neighborhood sold for $375,000 to a developer who plans to convert the vacant property into apartments and possible retail or office space.
Jim Chives, of Gold and Co., said he sold the 10,000-square-foot complex at 1742-1746 Fleet St. to Chasen Construction & Development on behalf of the American Legion.
COOL DIGS: FEDERAL HILL'S NEWEST COWORKING SPACE HAS OFFICES WITH LOFTS FOR NAPPING
Baltimore's newest coworking space offers its tenants everything from a golf simulator, to shared event space and private offices complete with lofts for napping.
Vision opened earlier this year at 12 W. Montgomery St., an old office building in Federal Hill. The 11,000-square-foot space has a modern and trendy design with exposed ceilings and lots of white furniture and wood and metal accents.

Development is under construction on a mixed-use project that will bring six apartments and an office space to 12 W. Montgomery St. in Federal Hill. The 10,500 sq. ft. building was formerly used as office space but has been vacant in recent years.
RENTAL SPOTLIGHT: THE DARCY BRINGS ELEGANT APARTMENTS TO LIGHT STREET
Take a look at the newest addition to Light Street. The Darcy resides at 1702 Light Street and offers 10 luxurious boutique styled apartments. The building stands four stories tall above beautiful South Baltimore, offering serene and breathtaking views of the city.
The Victory House — a former 7,074 sq. ft., 39-bedroom, two-bathroom residence at 1702-1708 Light St. in South Baltimore — is no longer standing. Crews have spent the last few months demolishing the building and now the building is completely gone.
Pictures of the demolition started circulating on neighborhood social media pages generating hundreds of likes. The Victory House was a source of frustration for many in the community for years.

WORK BEGINS ON VICTORY HOUSE REDEVELOPMENT IN South Baltimore
Interior demolition has started on the redevelopment of the Victory House at 1702-1708 Light St. in South Baltimore. The Victory House is a 7,074 sq. ft., 39-bedroom, two-bathroom residence that was condemned and shut down by Housing and Community Development (HCD) last year due to structural issues. Developer Brandon Chasen is working with architect Julie Tice of Eastend Design Group on the project.
